Why Reroute Instead of Repair?

When irrigation lines conflict with construction or landscaping changes, rerouting is the smart long-term solution.

Protect Your Investment

Moving irrigation lines before construction prevents accidental damage during excavation. Repair costs after a broken main line far exceed rerouting costs.

Avoid Future Damage

Lines running under driveways, patios, or through root zones will eventually fail. Rerouting now eliminates buried access problems later.

Improve System Efficiency

Rerouting lets us optimize pipe runs, eliminate dead legs, and balance pressure across zones for better coverage with less water.

Save on Repairs

Pipes under concrete are expensive to access when they leak. Rerouting lines to accessible areas reduces future repair costs dramatically.

Common Scenarios

When You Need a System Reroute

These are the most common situations where rerouting irrigation lines saves time, money, and headaches.

Pool Installation

Pool contractors cut through irrigation lines during excavation. We relocate pipes, valves, and heads before digging starts so your sprinklers work the day after pool completion.

Patio or Deck Addition

New patios and decks bury sprinkler lines and heads. We move irrigation around the new structure and adjust coverage to keep your lawn watered without spraying the patio.

Driveway Expansion

Widening a driveway or adding a parking pad means relocating any lines that cross the path. We reroute and reconnect everything with minimal landscape disruption.

Tree Root Damage

Mature oaks and other DFW trees send roots through irrigation pipes. When root damage keeps recurring, rerouting the line away from the tree is the permanent solution.

Landscaping Redesign

Converting lawn to garden beds, adding hardscaping, or reshaping your landscape often requires moving sprinkler zones. We redesign irrigation to match your new layout.

Home Addition or Remodel

Room additions, sunrooms, and foundation work require clearing irrigation from the construction zone. We reroute and restore full coverage after the build.

Our Rerouting Process

From survey to pressure-tested results, here's how we handle system reroutes.

1

Survey & Plan

We map your existing irrigation lines, identify which pipes need rerouting, and plan the new path for optimal coverage and accessibility.

2

Mark & Locate

All existing lines are located and marked. We coordinate with your contractor to avoid conflicts and plan the timeline.

3

Reroute & Connect

Pipes are trenched along the new path, connected with commercial-grade fittings, and heads repositioned for proper coverage.

4

Test & Verify

Every rerouted zone is pressure-tested and run through a full cycle. We verify coverage and check for leaks before backfilling.

System Reroute FAQs

Common questions about sprinkler system rerouting and pipe relocation.

How much does a sprinkler system reroute cost?

Reroute costs depend on how many lines need moving, the distance, and soil conditions. Simple single-line reroutes are straightforward, while multi-zone reroutes for pool installations involve more work. We provide detailed quotes after assessing your specific situation. Call (469) 839-2113 for a free estimate.

We're adding a pool - do our sprinkler lines need to be moved?

Almost certainly yes. Pool excavation will cut through any irrigation lines in the area. It's far cheaper to reroute lines before the pool crew starts digging than to repair broken pipes after. We coordinate with pool contractors to get the timing right.

Can you reroute sprinkler lines around tree roots?

Yes. This is one of the most common reroutes we do in Garland and DFW, especially around mature oaks and pecans. We route new pipe around the root zone so you get reliable irrigation without recurring root damage. The old damaged line is capped and abandoned in place.

How long does a reroute take?

Most single-line reroutes complete in half a day. Larger projects involving multiple zones or extensive trenching may take a full day. We minimize disruption to your landscape and clean up thoroughly.

Will rerouting affect my water pressure?

When done properly, no. We size pipe correctly for the run length and maintain proper pressure throughout. In some cases, rerouting actually improves pressure by eliminating kinked or partially blocked old lines.

Do I need a reroute or just a repair?

If the same section keeps failing due to roots, traffic, or being under concrete, rerouting is the better long-term solution. A single break in an accessible area is usually just a repair. We'll give you an honest recommendation based on what makes financial sense.
